Pakistanis Can Now Apply for 5 Fully Funded PhD Programs in the Netherlands

A scholarship opportunity for those considering a doctorate overseas but put it off due to finances. The University of Amsterdam has five funded places available for a PhD, and Pakistan is on the list of eligible countries. With a salary, holiday allowance, and year-end bonus on top of a decent monthly wage, this is a chance to not only fund your studies but to actually enjoy life in one of Europe's most vibrant cities.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

Most foreign scholarships for PhD studies are vague about their conditions and often hide various expenses. This particular scholarship, however, is more straightforward as it is based on an employment contract. In fact, you will be employed as a researcher under a payroll scheme, meaning that you will get a decent Dutch salary (ranging from €3204 gross per month, in the first year, to €4051 gross per month, in the last year) with an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus on top of that. Additionally, your tuition fees and a monthly allowance for living expenses in the Netherlands will also be covered.

Therefore, the total amount of money you will receive per month will be considerably higher than the figures mentioned above, which are already quite enough to cover your expenses in the Netherlands. Moreover, having a stable income will significantly reduce pressure on you as you will not have to worry about paying off any tuition fees.

The second position is studying the response of vegetation and soil to annual weather patterns of drought and heatwaves, using a combination of fieldwork, remote sensing, and computer modeling. Both of these positions are based at the Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics and require actual on-site research, not just desk job tasks.

The first area of research deals with the docket of consequences that family code-switching and child language brokering have on the family dynamic and the degree to which such families are trusting each other.
