WhatsApp Adds Feature to Hide Names When Voting in Polls

WhatsApp has introduced a number of new features that are aimed at making group chats better in terms of their functionality, usability, and privacy with the emphasis being made on WhatsApp poll privacy.

Hide Your Name When Voting in Polls

The most obvious yet practical update is giving users the ability to keep their identities anonymous while participating in polls in groups; now users will be able to participate in polls without being forced to share the results of their vote. No user has been forced to reveal their preferences in a poll in a group since anyone was able to see their choice, and this restriction is finally lifted.

In addition to that, there have been introduced two new functions regarding polls. Now users will be able to specify how long the poll will be active and even change the poll within 15 minutes after creation.

A New Way to Notify Everyone in a Group

Additionally, there will be an @all feature through which one can mention everyone in a group at once using just one tag. However, there is a limitation that one needs to be aware of. In the case of large groups where there are more than 32 people, the feature can be used only by the group administrators.

Spinning Off Smaller Groups Easily

One more feature that can be pointed out is the possibility to create another group with the help of "Create a similar group" button located in the information about the group. It will allow users to create a new group from certain people chosen from the already existing one.

All the above features have already been introduced into the application.

WhatsApp Is Also Testing New Animated Chat Themes

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is currently developing three new theme categories for its chat feature on Android phones, which are not yet ready to be tested by beta testers.

The “Featured” theme category is a set of themes featuring animation of wallpapers, but with very gentle and smooth animation in order to provide visual delighting without distracting during conversations. The “Doodle” theme category is a return of traditional WhatsApp patterns. The “Minimal” theme consists of only white or dark background which will adapt to your phone’s system settings.

A good feature about all three themes is that the color of chat bubbles will automatically adjust according to chosen background theme.
